About Lincoln and the 33rd Council District: Lincoln represents the 33rd Council District, which stretches from Greenpoint down to Brooklyn Heights along the Brooklyn waterfront.
Lincoln entered office in January 2022 with the goal of being the district’s 24/7 problem solver. Our office offers robust constituent services, spearheads organizing campaigns to proactively engage constituents on the issues that matter most, and leads on a variety of policy and legislative issues. Lincoln is dedicated to pushing forward-thinking policy on responding to climate change; creating truly affordable housing; bike infrastructure; and building non-police emergency response capacity.
Spring Intern
Job Description:
The Intern will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience across all areas of the Council office, including supporting the community and constituent affairs, legislative, and organizing portfolios. Depending on interest and experience, the intern will:
Conduct research on potential policy proposals and analyze legislation
Respond to constituent concerns, including answering constituent calls, researching issues, and identifying solutions
Draft correspondence, briefings, talking points, presentations, and other materials as needed to address community concerns
Assist in planning, preparation, and staffing community events and organizing campaigns
Qualifications:
Interest and experience in New York City government
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Willingness to work flexibly and in a fast paced environment
Keen to learn about public service and the issues in the 33rd Council District
Commitment to social justice
Additional Information:
This position will be paid the NYC Council minimum rate of $31/hour
The ideal candidate will be available to start in 2-3 weeks and commit through May or June
Schedule: Approximately ~10 hours/week, flexible hours and days
This position requires in-person work at our District Office, 410 Atlantic Ave, Brooklyn
